Probably goes without saying, but saying it anyway.

This PSA was prompted from me being on south beach for a few hours the past couple of days and at a couple of touristy type places. Eating lunch I would estimate the number of selfies taken in the hour I was there at 250, give or take 10 or so. Seemed like every youngish girl spent the entire time trying 2 dozen different poses, the sticks to hold the phone out was everywhere.

One set of you girls sitting across the bar from me (teenagers) spent a goo 30 minutes taking selfies, pictures of their food, posing for each other, etc. Like had to be 50 of them taken. With sunglasses, without, making silly faces, regular faces, etc.

Out of control.

Yeah, but damn, how can you even enjoy yourself or surroundings when all you do is pic, pic, pic, pic, pic, pic.

I can understand snapping pics here and there, but do you need two dozen pictures of yourself or more from the same place which is just you at a restaurant/bar?

It can be annoying but having this technology is awesome when it comes to major events in history.

Poor people get really excited when they go to places like south beach. Give them a break.

It's not about actually being there and enjoying the moment and scenery; it's all about creating the perception for others that you're there and enjoying the moment and scenery. Because what people think about you >>>> Actual life experiences.

Proud to say I've never taken or ever posed with anyone for a selfie. It just seems so narcissistic.

The not cool part about it is that in 5 years they won't have any of those pictures anymore. Nobody prints pictures anymore. It's a shame that phones have killed the photo albumn and having pictures for generations rather than months.
