All the talk about North Korea's ICBM capabilities got me to wondering on what would prevent any country from positioning multiple subs along the US coastlines and simultaneously launching multiple short range nuclear weapons on major cities (L.A., New York, Atlanta, Seattle, San Fran, etc).

Do we have the military capabilities to prevent the subs from being this close to the US mainland, or destroying the missiles before they reach the targets?

The downside is you'd lose GeorgeTheGreek. No more brilliant TD posts.

What makes you think they don't already position themselves to do this?

I'd go with the Cajun Navy first. The USN has trouble finding people that can steer a boat.

Haha it's funny when those cities get wiped out because they're full of liberals.

Good read, Jack, thanks for sharing.

The MAD theory seems to be a rational concept for stable nations/governments, but doesn't seem to be applicable to a rogue dictator.

We have all kinds of fancy sonar and probably other top secret technology that would detect a bunch of foreign subs off our coast. That would be impossible to do in secret.

I think it's already a known fact that we don't have those super sleuth capabilities to detect every submarine. If we did have that capability we would have discovered every drug running submarine in the world.

Not letting them develop the technology. They are almost impossible to keep tabs on when submerged.

Thing is they need supply routes, and a country like NK runs diesel subs that have limited range and obviously need to refuel. That's how you track them

Once NK develops nuclear powered subs it's a whole different ball game. It's also why they want us out of the area, so they can establish supply routes and move freely around the pacific. We have japan, Philippines, Guam, and Australia all right there so they are very limited when it comes to friendly ports and also keeping movements under wraps

Can you imagine if those little Norks tried to invade the homeland? I'd gleefully smoke those slant-eyed little bastards just like my granpappy did in the 50s.

You are assuming that the US government actually wants to prevent illegal drugs from being smuggled into this country.

Way to drink the government coolaid, Baw!
