The girl in the video is Jasmine Darwin, who said she was trying to break up a fight between her sister and another student when the officer came from behind and slammed her to the ground.

Darwin said, in the moment, she hadn't fully grasped what had happened.

"Every time I look at it, its embarrassing," Darwin said of the video. "I didn't even realize it happened. Like, I was in shock."

Rolesville police chief Bobby Langston said the fight occurred in the school cafeteria at about 7:10 a.m.

The second eyewitness who sent the longer video of the fight, Aisha Nasser, said she didn't think De Los Santos meant any harm.

"He's one of the kindest officers I've ever come across," said Nasser. "Seeing the whole situation first hand it was out of control and he was just trying to gain control of the situation and I know it wasn't his intention to hurt that girl."

Rolesville mayor Frank Eagles said De Los Santos, was placed on administrative leave. He said De Los Santos has been assigned to the school since it opened in 2013. Eagles said all officers were given body cameras in August.

Better than using a gun or a taser, I think.

Are security guards supposed to just stand there and hope things remain secure?

I wonder why it is ok for hoodrats to brawl, but when they get put in their place by someone of authority, "It is NOT ok".

Interesting that the video only shows the slam and nothing leading up to it. Wondering what was happening between her and the officer prior to the slam. Hard to believe he just walked up to her and body slammed her for no reason, but If he did then the book needs to be thrown at him.

Your focused on the wrong thing. Disregard the fight.

Focus strictly now on the school resource officer. He did them gerls wrong.

Sadly, this will never be mentioned by the news, the 'victim', or her supporters

Good question, but you probably already know the answer

Good for him. I'm sure the shite he put up with for 4 years, was more than enough justification to body-slam this little fricking brat.

That didn't look that bad to me. I'm not saying it was the right move to make, but it wasn't done with enough force to really do any injury, just a little shock to the system.

These situations put those responsible for security and safety in such bad situations. If they fail to control their emotions in a very emotional moment, they can make a minor miscalculation that can hurt someone and/or damage their career, much less cause them to face legal repercussions.

What's the reciprocal answer? Putting a 90 yr old, skeletor-like lady to enforce authority over a bunch of unruly teenagers?

No, I personally think that we need to recognize how difficult that job is and allow more leeway for mistakes.

One poster called for this guy to "have the book thrown at him." I think that even if the guy is found to have acted overly aggressive in this situation, the worst that should be done is to make him attend refresher training. No need to even dock his pay. That incident is within the realm of likelihood for most security jobs, and should be treated as such.

Keep thinking that. Anytime it's cop on black violence, it's just as bad in their mind.
