There is a bake sale fundraiser at work going on, which reminded me of bake sales when I was in elementary school.

Do these exist anymore at the elementary school level, or has it all come down to kids bringing home flyers for overpriced tumblers, cookie dough and other useless items?

Peanut lawsuits ruined the party.

Nah, it's mostly just shitty, overpriced candy sales these days.

We have them within the school, like as part of a small school fair. Sometimes clubs have them too, but again, it's within the school so it's mostly just parents or other kids buying. Some schools also have regulations about homemade food being brought in (because of no ingredient list and possible allergies).

But we do have things like jambalaya, BBQ, or fish fry dinners where tickets are sold around the community or to offices and dinners are either picked up at the school or delivered to them.

My kids don't have them.anymore but they do have snack sale once a week. My wife works at a hospital and they have a bake sale once a month to benefit Relay for Life.

Funny story. A friend of mine made two batches of brownies. One pot brownies for him and then one for the kids bake sale. He forgot which one was which. He had to leave work to get the brownies from school because he didn't know if they were the pot ones or not.

Your friend sounds like a real winner and super responsible parent.

Mom is an elementary school teacher, yes they still have bake sales, once a month the kids can buy homemade shite in the cafeteria if that's what you are talking about. At least in Ascension. They also do cookie dough drives and CC's coffee comes with a mobile truck for the teachers and faculty once a month iirc.

No surprise.

I'll always ask who baked what to make sure I'm not buying anything from someone who looks like a hoarder.
