Watched many die. Due to many different ways. A few have been people I knew.
The worst is the many kids, mostly infants and toddlers that I've seen

Found two, and saw probably 30 dead bodies when helping right after the Joplin tornado in 2011.
Maybe I'm weak idk, but it scarred me, wish I could unsee some of that stuff.

Scruffy has seen many dead bodies, although not in public.
It isn't as weird as people think.

I saw a guy that had been hit by an 18 wheeler on interstate 59. They closed both lanes but then opened one lane back up. His body was lying in one lane covered with a white sheet but there was blood everywhere.

Saw about 20 at the same time in gross anatomy class. They had been dead for quite some time and reeked of formalin.
Quite and honor to study people who give their body to science.

The dead are no fun to see. Head shots are the worst besides des kids. I just tell myself that they are gone from this world and the body is now nothing but an uninhabited vessel.

Long story short.. Friend worked nights for a morgue.. Bunch of friends.. Cocaine.. Went to said morgue... Saw fat, long haired, naked man on a table, with his arms and legs sticking up in the air.. Still haunts me to this day.

And yes for OP's question. Sad to see the life drained away from a person's eyes.

Watching someone die outside of how a doctor, etc. would see it is fricking crazy, especially when there's violence involved.

I've seen hundreds. My first career was as a Funeral Director/Embalmer.
First "in the wild" one was on a house call. I'd been working at the funeral home for a week. Dude was sitting in his chair. He had been there so long you couldn't tell where he ended and the chair began. Just one giant gelatinous dark blob. As you got closer, you could see the blob slightly "moving". He was infested with maggots (mostly under his skin). The thing I remember the most was when we went to drag him off the chair and into a body bag, his hat fell off. Along with most of his scalp.
Went to an automobile accident scene on another call. Got the poor lady out of her car and loaded in the suburban and was about to leave. Cop comes and knocks on my window. He said I forgot something. He walked me back to the vehicle and pointed to the dashboard. About 4 inches of shin bone was sticking out of it. Had to pull it out and put it in the body bag with the victim.
Was a hell of a job.

It seemed like the right thing to do at the time. We flagged down a cop and an ambulance came and picked up the dude a few hours later. We were working the entire time he was laying back there
