Thats a nice tank. I need to get in mine soon for a cleaning. I had some algae pop up on some of my rocks and sand that's starting to annoy me.

I agree. Mines acrylic.

Id recommend against a bow front as well. Mines a bow front and it's a lot harder to clean the acrylic on the curve. Regular tank is way easier.

Cool set up but I'm not seeing enough fish or cool fish to justify this set up.

Most reef geeks care ab corals way more than fish. And they are more expensive. That's where the money's at.

I personally perfer a starphire glass tank. Will make the colors in the tank come out more and if you scratch your tank on a acrylic tank it will show up alot more than on a glass tank. I can promise you that you will scratch your tank no matter how much you baby it.

what makes you say this?

you can scratch the frick up out of acrylic and never know if the scratches are under the water line.
If it bothers you that much, some 1500 grit sandpaper and a quick polish will remove them.

Plus you can keep these without worrying about them shattering your glass tank.

If you have no experience with fish tanks, I would suggest you start with a medium size fresh water first. Maybe move up to a full planted freshwater and gain some experience.

Salties are expensive and you don't wanna accidentally murder a fish that cost you $100+

Personal experience. I had three jobs in college and one of them was aquarium maintenance. I cleaned alot of tank from small to big tanks and I found the starphire glass to the best looking for color. Now as far as durability just the plain regular glass tanks work the best.

I've had up to 5 tanks running in my home at once plus helped maintain a breeding facility with a friend a while back. I liked everything about acrylic. I just don't trust glass like that inside my home.Glass plates, glued together. So many horror stories.

Nice. Knock on wood, I have never had and problems with my glass tanks in the last 20 years. And you are correct with the mantis shrimp should only be in a acrylic tank.

I have a 55 gallon freshwater planted tank. I have a mixture of fish in there, but I have Endler's Livebearers which breed like crazy.

In my 10 gallon planted, I keep dwarf livebearers and cherry shrimp. Both are breeding, which is good.

I plan to put a smallish pond in my backyard this spring. When the population gets out of control on both my tanks, I can move a bunch of fish/shrimp outside.
