This place is almost impossible to find a good running route. I would much rather drive to the lakes in BR, but I'm wondering if there are any trails or routes I haven't heard about?

Lots of people seem to bike on alligator bayou. Seems like a death trap with all of the curves though. I assume a local public track is too boring?

By the Gonzales Civic Center. Lot of people use that walking path combined with the EA track and the sidewalks around there to make various courses of 2-5 miles.

Look on map it goes from Jamby Park down to Worthey.

I park at Auto Zone, run down to the park, out the back thru Park Vista, up to City Hall, down to the old Comunity College, on the side of St. Theresa and back. It's close to 4 miles.

There's a good walking path at Gonzales Park as well as St. Amant Park. However, there's nothing even remotely approximating the LSU Lakes anywhere around Ascension Parish.

Duplessis Primary off of Hwy 621 has a great running park and tennis court setup. One lap around their track is 1/2 mile and the people there are good people. Very few trashy people take advantage of this park so it's usually pretty safe as well. Huge area in the middle of the track for kids to play as well.

I park at the Courthouse across from EAHS, run the sidewalk In front of EA down to Burnside, then down to Cornerview, back to Rec Center and make full block. One time is 1.7 miles, 2 is 3.4. Can vary with a trip through Park Vista subdivision or take sidewalk between EA and EATEL back to Cornerview. Hey, it's more interesting than a treadmill.

There's a paved path around the 12 acre lake at Lamar Dixon. It's also lighted at night. The lake is on the far left side of the property.

quote:

Directions: Continue past the main entrance and Chapel entrance of the Lamar-Dixon Expo center on S. St. Landry Road. Immediately after the second concrete entrance (by the Chapel), there will be a gravel road. Take a right onto the gravel road and continue down past the shooting range until you get to a tree-lined gravel road on the left. Turn there and follow down to the lake.
