Local Fed EX offices do not give change, credit cards, or exact payment in cash is required.

Not true for Riverside Towing, before you run your mouth do a little research and you will find plenty of examples of them towing people with the proper tags

You mean the signatures that they don't actually legally collect?

Towing investigation turns up violations

Police also found that the signatures on the invoices from that night were not from the people the vehicles were released to. Instead, the employees signed the invoices. When questioned about it, the report shows that the the owner of Riverside Towing said "because that way, they do not have to have an angry customer sign the invoice or get mad and tear the invoice up." According to state police, the person the vehicle was released to must sign it.

Like at your apartment complex?

The managers would either be paying for my tow and the cost/time to get my car back and they would be calling Riverside to have them personally deliver my vehicle back where they found it.

It seems to be pretty established (at least here) that Riverside is a bunch of worthless vultures so you need to make the people that sign their checks pay for their screwups if you want any action to be done. The problem is that requires you to play the long game somewhat and do something more than pray that a meteor falls on Riverside's complex.

Company has trucks, trucks require maintenance and fuel.

Company has people, people who drive the trucks and work behind a desk.

Everyone needs to get paid in a business. That's how a business is run.

As for the cost of the tow, a lot of cities charge around that rate.
New York City - $185-370
San Francisco - $194
Houston - $143
LSU - $125

It's all about supply and demand. And cities do usually set boundaries. Riverside might have just gone with the maximum. It's somewhere in the municipal codebook, I just don't feel like sifting through all of it tonight.

Yet, at the same time Riverside Towing has been investigated by the police and been found to be in violation of the law multiple times.

While this may be the case, they're still up and running, correct?

No, I mean the signatures that lawmakers sign onto bills.

Failing that, signatures on petitions to lawmakers saying that if they don't put a stop to Riverside's happy horseshite, they may lose their next election.

That takes time, work and dedication, though so I expect Riverside to be in business for the forseeable future.

Complaints have been filed in the past and Riverside has been found in violation of this in the past.

Not sure why you're so eager to defend a company with violations in the past and shite all over people who have been screwed over by said company.

Yes, what's your point? Because they're still running they should be defended?

Is there some kind of reason you can't just accept that they're a shitty company with shitty practices?

What's your actual motivation here for defending them, do you work for them or do you just like being a dick on the internet?

I'm not defending anyone. It's my belief that everyone is entitled to voice their own opinion.

Also, the companies that have contracts with them like them because they get the job done. If you had someone parking in your spot that was not permitted, would you want that person towed? What if it was covered parking and you had $150 worth of groceries in your car and now you can't park in your designated spot because someone else did.

As long as there is a need for the job, it will still exist.

I've heard 2 stories that might make everyone feel a little better.

1. A guy paid in pennies. They called the police, and the police said they had to accept it, that is is legal US tender.

2. one of their tow truck drivers talked shite to some college kids and got the shite kicked out of him.

frick Riverside they are pieces of shite.

The owner of riverside towing deserves to be water boarded while his family is burned alive.

Not sure the point of your post. Nobody here is claiming that towing companies shouldn't exist, just talking about Riverside's terrible practices.

I live in my own house in NOLA nowadays but when I lived in BR and attended LSU, I lived in an apartment building that was family owned and the old lady who was my landlord (who I knew well after living there for several years) specifically did not have a contract with towing companies because of previous shite that had gone down between them and her tenants. My only real problem was that on LSU gamedays I could not leave my apartment unless I wasn't coming back until hours after the game, because there'd be no place to park. It was a problem that the tenants complained about, but she asked our input and in the end we agreed in the end to not hire a towing company.

You just compared 3 of the 12 biggest cities in the United States....to Baton Rouge.

THEN you misrepresented the cost of a tow by your friends at Riverside.

The OP clearly stated (as so many others have in the past) that the tow was over $200 with some horse shite add-on fee tacked on if you can't retrieve your vehicle in their ridiculous idea of a timely fashion.

You are such a fricking homer that I hope that the KARMA soon to be visited upon Riverside shall be visited ten fold upon your head!!! Dude!

Thanks though

I once lived in a condo in a complex next to a college. I owned the condo, and had a designated parking space in the lot with warning signs that un-authorized cars would be towed. I lost count of how many times we had to call to have a car towed out of our space. The excuses were always the same, " I was only parked there a few minutes, the lot was empty so I didn't think it would matter,"
