You mean blog post, not article.

While I agree that McCain is a POS... the Forrestal stuff isn't true. It wasn't his jet that caused it. There is video proof of that.

When braindead morons on the right (this forum) hate someone and braindead morons on the left (/r/politics) hate the same person, that person was probably decent human being.

That description of the Forrestal fire is not only inaccurate, it's moronic.

There is no convincing them. Bloggers have successfully convinced many, many people that John McCain was responsible for it. It is nuts.

How many of you brainwashed limpdicks bash and make up stories and repeat propaganda about a POW who volunteered his service to fight in Vietnam, but are the same people that are faux outraged when a NFL player kneels during the anthem because it is disrespectful to our servicemen. If you ever did anything novel like actually pick up a book every 10 years or so you would know he later got repeatedly tutored in Hanoi not because he just was a POW but that they wanted him to leave but it wouldn't until those who were captured before him be allowed to leave with him. Continue to bash a great man who served his country and suffered unspeakable future for 5 years while you stare at your fat wife and your grasp your own pathetic miserable life.

The Navy still uses the Forrestal fire as a training aid during firefighter training. I've seen the videos, read the reports... it was an electrical malfunction that caused a Zuni rocket to fire off. The rocket shot across the flight deck and actually hit McCain's jet.

A lot of this.

quote:And not to mention that his jet was still parked with the engine pointing over the side, away from the deck. The A4 didn't have an afterburner, which makes the wet start crap kind of hard to accomplish in the first place. And then, the fact that the F4 that fired the rocket was located on the opposite side of the deck (a fact verified by both witness testimony and film of the fire itself), facing McCain's A-4. So, for the this cockamamie story to be true, McCain would have had to have wet started an airplane without an afterburner and the flames from that start would have had to have come out of the engine and turned 180 degrees and gone back past the nose of the plane and across the deck of a moving aircraft carrier.
The rocket shot across the flight deck and actually hit McCain's jet.
Then, in order to cover it up, the entire department of defense had to be in on the cover-up and everyone involved had to be quiet about the cover-up for 51 years. Official USN Findings in re Forrestal Fire. It never fails to amaze me that the same people who claim the government is too incompetent to do anything correctly also claim that same government can mastermind spectacular conspiracies and keep the whole story under wraps for generations.
There are several unpatriotic folks in this thread. McCain's not one of them.

Prayers to Senator McCain's family. His military service and sacrifice for this country should be respected and honored by all Americans.

That story about his life hurts the narrative for liberals about how this was a good guy.
Anybody who leaves his wife in that condition is a major scumbag.
I'm sure he's in Hell.
