Report of hostage situation at Tulane med school UPDATE: clear but stay away from area

I’m getting reports from folks on the ground but not seeing any news coverage yet.
Will update with what I find.
ETA:

Tulane now saying there is no longer a threat but to still stay away from the area.
Fox8 live right now:
Hutchinson bldg on Tulane Ave will reopen at 9AM. 9th floor will be closed until further notice. Person taken away on stretcher. Crime lab vehicle on scene.

There is a stand off with a hostage at Tulane med school downtown.
ETA: if you go to the empoweryournola Instagram he has pictures of med students standing outside, but that’s all I’ve seen so far.

Tulane Ave I believe. State police and NOPD are out there and have the area blocked off.

It’s finals week… can definitely see some kid that is use to A’s because of the softness of the academic society getting angry about having to actually make real grades now.

Suspect was an animal care technician. He shot himself and is in the hospital. No other injuries.
