GE profile model pds18sbmarbs not sure the age since it came with the house.

Makes a loud rattling noise from between the bottom drawer freezer and the fridge. Sounds like the fan rattling, but the thing is it doesn't always make noise. It might happen once every few days. Some times it's really loud and sometimes it's not so bad just a loud humming.

Is there an ice maker in that vicinity? They are prone to breakage and cock-ups.

So the main problem is a 'rattling' noise...? Why do you suspect it's the fan? Is there a cadence at all to the humming...? Just be happy that it's running, now you're way behind and I suspect it's already got a head start... you better go catch it.

Ice maker is turned off.

It changes cadence when I press on the bottom of the fridge or top of the freezer which leads me to think it's some type of fan or motor turning.

Before you call for service, take the food out, unplug, open doors for 24 hours.

Just had this happen to my GE Profile and service guy said condensation builds up on the fan then freezes causing imbalance and noise. Worth a shot.
