I received a ticket from the City of New Orleans Photo Safety Program. Should i pay this ticket? My vehicle clearly ran a red light, i think it is horse shite. But i can't prove the vehicle that is owned by me, didn't technically run the light. I went on their site and saw the photos and the video of my vehicle running the light is clear.

My only thought is, how can they prove I was the driver of the vehicle. I thought about sending a letter that said they have no proof that I was operating the vehicle.

Anyone else have experience with one of these tickets?

New Orleans will boot you car from what I hear. The rest of the state can throw those in the trash can.

If you go to NOLA regularly, yes. Unless you want boots on your vehicle.

I don't really go into the city very often. I spend some time in the kenner/met area, but usually don't spend a ton of time downtown. I'll probably go downtown 5-10 times a year. Usually for some festival or a pels/saints game.

I'm thinking about sending in a letter saying i was not the driver of the vehicle.

Also, how do they have an officer tagged to this ticket? They include his badge number as well. I feel like you could go to the hearing and ask if he wasn't present during the time the violation was committed. Im mad haha

So, i am safe in saying that they won't turn me over to collections? They will just boot my vehicle until i pay the $135?

Just pay it.

It fricking blows but you will double your costs if you try to fight it.

And you'll get booted if you don't pay it.

Or you can do what I've heard some people do and have your license plate get "stolen" or "lost" and get a new one that the plate readers don't know is tied to a camera ticket.

Doesn't it cost around $100 to get a new license?

They don't seem to be sending people to collection as much anymore, but that $135 increases if you don't pay it and the boot and ticket is $300 and an hour wasted of your life.

If you park on the street in New Orleans, especially downtown, you are going to be booted.

Just drive away with the boot on if you get it.

Unless you feel like wasting an entire day going to court in NO or feel like taking a chance on coming back to a booted car, just pay it. It's better than all the BS that goes with getting a boot removed, and still having to pay the ticket
