Why when Twin Peaks is right there too?

I'm surprised they haven't already. That place has been terrible for more than a decade.

They are, but when they started selling their mix in grocery stores, it eliminated the need to endure shitty seafood to enjoy good biscuits.

I think there just isn't any value in going to a chain restaurant like this anymore.

There are 4 chain steakhouses off the i-95 where I grew up. Tried to go to both a Texas Road House and Long Horn a few weeks ago and they each had over an hour wait which is generally the case every time I go there. Didn't even bother trying Outback as they've had an hour wait on weekends for over a decade. Not sure ab Western Sizzlin but probably slammed too.

Another thing is that the "Farm to Table" movement that started in the early teens in hipster places, it spread throughout the country and to "normal" people, and people didn't want frozen bullshite with huge menus.

Gen Z and younger millenials do not eat at these chain places at all.

Have the folks who like red lobster ever had much spending power?

I don’t know how old you are, but when I was a kid, Red Lobster was considered “fancy” middle class dining. The kind of place you went to on special occasions.

I haven’t been to a RL in over 30 years, so maybe the quality changed. I’ve just never been a big seafood fan.

We have a gift card to Texas Roadhouse that we still haven’t used yet because it’s always too long of a wait when we’ve been by, several times.

This is how they viewed Red Lobster up in Northeast Wisconsin, this is the place you went when you had a major accomplishment since the only other "seafood" you would normally eat were friday night fish frys during Lent.

Texas Roadhouse is at their peak right now. The question is if they can stay relevant in their business life cycle. Red Lobster lost popularity and, yes, white flight is a thing for them

Part of the problem is that former Red Lobster President Edna Morris misjudged how much customers would eat during a $22.99 all-you-can-eat crab promotion. Red Lobster never recovered from that disastrous idea and lost an absolute fortune because of it.

Customers went back on average 4 times to fill up their plates. Red Lobster could withstand 2 times but lost money on #3 and the #4 refill cost the restaurant roughly $17 dollars every time someone ordered the all you can eat crab promotion.

how do you run red lobster and not know your customer base is a bunch of broke fatasses

I am sure that the tips were very generous though

Outback isn't that much cheaper (if at all) than eating at locally owned spots around me. They sell their slop for 17+ a plate

there are any number of spots near me that serve way better food for around that or cheaper.

They should lobby to allow EBT to be used there.

I keep hearing that. And I know we cut back. But when I'm headed to the country on weekend evenings. From about Conroe to Willis on 45, all of the chain restaurants are full. The only parking lot that is empty is GC.

Where the hell are they getting all this money from?

Last couple times I went to Outback, it was horrible. Steaks were tough and nothing but gristle.

It should have stayed open for its customers. Let them go to the all you can eat trough there while we visit the better restaurants without having to deal.
