I know that there aren't too many Cenla people on here but I figure it's worth a shot... I am looking for a reception site in/around Marksville that will hold about 150 people that won't break the bank (not OT ballin'). They have to allow alcohol. Any suggestions?

Did you check out Paragon Casino? What about the hall at St. Joseph's Catholic Church? I grew up in Marksville, but outside of visiting my parents, I don't know what is there....

I haven't checked the casino yet but we are planning on everyone staying there. I'm not Catholic and we aren't getting married in the church so I don't know if they would let us :-/

Maybe the Red River Grill? I've never been, but heard it was nice. They have a banquet room that can handle 100.

There's a place in Mansura that sounds about right. Not sure the name but it's at the cochon de lait grounds by the police station. I went to one there that was about 150 or so.

Oh yeah, I shoulda remembered the Mansura place. One of the first times I got drunk was at a party there when I was a sophomore in high school. Think it was a high school graduation party for the mayor's son. Got wasted on peach schnapps and Miller Genuine Draft. Fell in a ditch and tried to make a move on a girl a year younger than me. Then I discovered that it was possible to drink so much alcohol that you vomited. Good times!

Isn't there some kind of conference center/camp about half way between Bunkie and Mansura.
Might be worth checking out.

There's another smaller casino before Paragon. I think it's a man's name. Has a nice place for parties from what other people have told me. I just can't think of the name.

Lettsworth. Jesus is Lord in Lettsworth.

...Casino is the probably the easiest bet. Are you from there? If not why are you getting married there?

I'm from Baton Rouge originally but we live in Bunkie now. Everything in Baton Rouge/Gonzales is either ridiculously expensive or has been done 5 million times so we chose Marksville so we can have something different (and I work in Marksville). Does anyone know who to contact about the cochon de lait center in Cottonport?

I would absolutely LOVE to find someone with a big old barn that they have finished but we just don't know many people here since we have only been here for 6 months.

Fresh Catch Bistreaux is a nice place. Not sure they could hold 150 people though. Haas Auditorium in Bunkie could be a nice place also

That place was a dump, even when it was up and running. Paragon is kind of pricey. The Haas isn't bad, ive been to some nice receptions there. There arent a ton of options around here. LJs is one, but im not even sure if its still usable.

LJ's is it. They closed the older one and built a new one. I think next door to the old one. I'll be in the area today and tomorrow and I'll ask family members.

My 89 year old paw paw passed away from Bordelonville.
