quick pool question - pentair automatic chlorinator screen goes up or down?

all the pics show it right side up
but i think it makes more sense to be upside down so its like a cup or mini basket preventing debris from getting into the system.

it's just a diffuser.should not be any debris in there except for chlorine tablets.just put a new one in mine yesterday just as it is pictured.
