Son starting HS next year and needs a drop 3 bat. I don't want to spend a fortune because I'm sure he may have a growth spurt. What's a decent bat for a decent price....tia

No offense but if he is playing HS ball you need to get him the top of the line bat, every single other kid will be using one. Just let him know that its gonna also be his main birthday or Christmas present as well!

Also, ask him what he wants because kids are so picky about that and if you don't get him the brand this is "cool" at his school he is gonna hate it......he is a teenager ya know!

They do but its not like when we were kids, assuming you are over 30. They get like 3 or 4 and every kid just HAS to have their own top of the line bat!

Again, its not like when we were kids! These little frickers are selfish and obsessed with their bats!

Take it from Scruffy who played HS ball 8 years ago, don't worry about buying him an expensive bat. Just tell him to use the bats his teammates buy. That's what Scruffy did.

Also, he'll likely grow out of the bat you purchase his Freshman year.

Yet kids in the Dominican Republic hit rocks with sticks in the street and dominate the MLB

Usually one school kinda sticks to the same brand so it could be Easton or DeMarini, who knows what he wants? Also, Easton for example has bats made for power hitters and contact hitters that are both top of the line. You really just need to ask him.

Buying him a top of the line bat really is a waste, especially as a freshman.

If you are going to spend money on something, spend it on the glove. Scruffy's A2000 lasted him four years and was broken in perfectly by the time he was a senior.
