Everyone here is an OT baller with a minimum of two degrees, so why all of the anti-university, pro-trade school sentiment on here? Or are folks lying about their profession?

South Louisiana is home to massive petrochemical plants and offshore oil & gas exploration. People working in these fields make 6 figures and then some with a trade school education. However, the work is hard, the hours are long, and the conditions are messy, so it all evens out.

It's definitely a regional thing. I'd doubt you'd find this same sentiment on a UF or Georgia board.

What Kingbob said.

We are sending too many dumbasses to college who have no business being there and many of them are getting useless degrees while running up huge debts.

More young people need to go to trade school as the jobs are there in this area. Do some hard work and make some money. If you play your cards right you either run up the chain and make very good money and decide that this is going to be your career, or go to college later if you think you know what you want to do. You can most likely still work while going to school and have your company pay for it.

And stop with all of this OT being all rich bawler crap.

We're talking about what's good for the country, not individuals.

Of course many successful people come out of colleges, such as your's truly, but that doesn't minimize the benefits of trade schools.

Oh, I agree with that. I find the complete disdain of universities strange for a college sports message board. Many more people should go into Votech as you said, but let's not make it something it isn't. Unless you own your own business, there isn't much room for growth in that sector.

At least in NYC there are blue collar welders making more than the structural engineers that designed whatever it is they are welding...

You don't need to go to a university to get your ptech degree

Not sure where you are going with this.

And I don't think most on here slam colleges. They make fun of the liberal tendencies many universities have and the SJW fad that has emerged. I think most agree that people getting an education is a good thing. It's just not good if you are going in and getting a shitty degree and then bitching and expecting someone else to pay off your loans.
