Question about open container laws

A buddy of mine was in a vehicle tonight with 5 people. 5 were 21 and over while one was underage. They were all written a ticket for open container in a vehicle when there was only 1 person with a drink which happened to be the under 21 girl. Is that the law that everyone in the vehicle gets the open container ticket, instead of just the driver and the girl with the drink?

How were the authorities to know the OC wasn't being passed around? Hands of one, hands of all.

i thought the same. ultimately, the driver is the one responsible for the people in his/her vehicle.

One of the biggest fights I ever got into with my girlfriend was when she didn't back me up when her friends had fricking handles of alcohol in my car. They were turning the fricking light on and passing it around taking pulls.
I do not miss college date parties.

No doubt. In college there was nothing that made me more irate than when it was just me and I had a car full of chicks slamming hard liquor straight out of a handle. I mean, I would never want to be in that situation ever again.

Half of the people in the car were the douchebag dates of these girls. But touché.

I graduated college 6 years ago and still know that the rule in tigerlamd is finish your roadie before getting out the vehicle

years ago I was a passenger in a truck that was pulled over. Neither of us had a seatbelt. I told driver, sucks to be you. Cop then proceeds to ticket each of us. So yeah, passenger can get ticketed.
