From someone who was overweight, fat guys aren't chosen for random hookups. If you're fat, you can't expect a Fit chick to be attracted to you. Put 50 pounds on Brad Pitt, and he's not getting laid as often. When I lost weight, my quality and quantity dramatically improved.
If your overweight, the only way your landing a hot woman, is to either be rich or very funny. But most importantly, you have to be confident. But it's hard to be confident when you know your overweight. Women are much more likely then men to overlook physical attractiveness. But they still respond to physical attractiveness as well. Especially at 3 am.

Yeah. Hit the gym. Do mostly cardio. Do it 3-4 times a week, for at least 30-45 minutes a pop. It sucks to begin, but eventually, you'll crave the exercise endorphins. Count calories. I tried to keep mine to about 1800 or less a day, though of cheat and drink on the weekends.
I'm a much stronger than average guy, and went from 5'9 208 to 178. I was about 4-5 pounds from a six pack. I did it in about 5-6 months. It took work and more self control than I'm used to, but it was worth it. Especially whenever I saw an ex for the first time. That is a priceless look.
I've actually gotten lazy since working too much during the summer, and have put on about 15 back. I tend to hold my weight only in my face and belly, so any weight gain is noticeable. But when I dropped the weight, I was shocked at how easy it was to pick up women in New Orleans.
I had been sad over a break up, so I was pretty damn shameless. It wasn't healthy, but it got to the point that I one blacked out, then regained consciousness in the middle of having sex with a chick I'd never met. I didn't even remember going to that bar. That's about the time I realized I needed a break from Nola, and moved out west.
But do it for yourself. If you're starting a thread like this, you're probably already lacking confidence. Nothing helps improve that like seeing results in the mirror, and suddenly having women hit on you instead. It's hard work, but you'll be healthier, happier, and those nuts will stay drained.
