Should bank with Capital One. I've had several fraudulent chargers over the last 10 years, up to $2K, and it's never taken them more than a 10 days to refund me.

They also reimburse all ATM fees.

If she was not criminally charged yet with your theft, then the probation officer can't do anything about it. Until she is criminally charged its a civil issue. Once she is charged and then arrested, she her probation may be revoked since it will be a new felony.

If they were pin based transactions you're probably not going to get your money back.

Not reading the entire thread but I'm sure it's been mentioned. Debit cards are not insured, credit cards are. Never use an outside ATM and pay with the CC.

Also make sure you have a good relationship with your branch personnel. I got hit for $10,000 straight out my checking account in 1 hour once because I live overseas and don't have normal limits on my account. My bank reversed all the charges.

I have friends and co-workers who've had to eat the charges.

So wait, you gave the pin number and card to the girl and she used the card for something you didn't authorize?

I hope you have her signature and not just a text message.

I'm just asking.

This story has layers. It sounds like someone had permission to use your card, just not permission to buy what they did.

Well let me clear. Permission was never given. I made a bunch of calls today, and was basically told to wait for the bank. If I am not refunded by Chase my case will become active. After this, I am switching banks and completely ditching the debit card. Lesson learned.

Your fault for using a debit card. Not protected like regular cards and can't get points.

I have to cancel my card too because someone is using it. Weird thing is that it's my debit card which I never use rather than my credit card.

Wow, what bank do you have? I'm with Regions and went through something similar.

One of my neighbors brought his criminal nephew to a crawfish boil. fricker jimmied the lock on my bedroom door and found my ATM card. He wrote down the card numbers and left the physical card with me. Made $1200 in online purchases before I canceled the card.

Regions didn't give me any grief over it though. I just gave them a printout of my recent transaction list with the fraudulent charges highlighted and they approved the reimbursement immediately. I had the money back in my account within 3 days.

Sorry to hear about your ordeal and hope it clears up soon.

ATM card (no debit feature)

What bank do you use? I thought banks nowadays only offered Visa or MC debit cards? I'd like to dump mine. It has no purpose other than getting cash from an ATM very occasionally.
