Is it better cost wise vs a rainbow vac? Is it that much more convenient? Anyone who has one give me some advice. How expensive

I haven’t seen a house with this since my aunt’s in the 80’s. It was cool, but yeah. This is a thing?

Seems like the pipes and hoses would get nasty over the years.

Locating the canister in an easily accessible location without it being an eyesore.

If you have a user not paying attention that sucks something up that gets lodged. Has to be a PITA to remove.

Had one in the last house never really liked it.

As for the Rainbow they are highly over-rated and way over-priced. If you want the best canister vac and willing to spend over a grand get a Miele (still cheaper than the Rainbow). CR has over a dozen canister vacs rated higher than the Rainbox for up to a grand LESS.

My MIL bought a Rainbow and tried to like it, finally gave up and gave it to my wife back when we were in a house that had some carpet, she tried it twice and gave it to a friend. Not as effective as a good "standard" vac and a PITA to empty and clean.

Friends have one in their raised house in Mandeville. It's awesome. Specifically for quick clean ups like when you spill or break something in the kitchen. It has those kick plates on the baseboard that you just push the debris near and open. The thing sucks whatever is nearby into the system. Beats a dust pan every time.

I've seen old ones in homes, seems where the vac port is in each room would have to be free of furniture. So, you can't put a bed here or a chest of drawers here?

My grandma had it in the 80's. I always thought it was a fad.

Parents had one and the suction was not even close to a regular vacuum.

I'm sure they have gotten better. This was 20 years ago and in a 4000 sqft 2 story house.

She has a rainboe vacuum now and I don't know of the central even works.

Buy a used rainbow on EBay for like $250. Those things are bulletproof and they have sellers who really go through the vacs and make sure bearing and shite are in top shape before reselling.

Our eBay vac is on about year 8. Not a single issue.
