POLKTON, N.C. (AP) — A kitchen worker at a North Carolina prison was charged Sunday with helping a convicted murderer escape as the search for the inmate continued.

Kendra Lynette Miller, 33, faces multiple charges connected to Saturday's escape by Kristopher McNeil, the state Department of Public Safety said in a statement. McNeil, 29, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, was serving a sentence for second-degree murder.

Prison officials say McNeil is believed to have scaled the fence at the minimum-security unit of Brown Creek Correctional Institution, about 45 miles east of Charlotte. He was convicted in 2009 and was scheduled for release in 2018.

Polkton police charged Miller with harboring a fugitive and aiding and abetting a fugitive. She's also charged with having sex with an inmate and providing a cellphone. An Anson County Jail official said she did not have a lawyer. Her bond was set at $500,000, prison officials said.

Inmates around here escape regularly, yet no one gives a shite. I know, we're Mississippi.

We actually had an incident where the sheriffs at the prison allowed a convicted murderer to leave the prison, take a sheriff's vehicle, run errands, sleep at his mom's house, and go out on the town. When investigators caught him, he was leaving a bar with $400, knives, and a box cutter in his pocket.

Are these women that lonely that inmate relations are what they live for?

At the Central Mississippi Correctional Facility, there's a huge wall the moment you walk in called "The Wall of Shame". It has all the mugshots of prison guards/workers who got caught smuggling contraband in to inmates, from drugs to condoms. The wall is full, and the sad part is it only goes back like 9 months.

That's what happens when your starting pay is 21k per year. You get low quality workers.

You would think someone who works in a prison would see how much it sucks and wouldn't engage in any activity that would send them there.
