I now have a hole in the ceiling that's about 24" in diameter due to a repair of a leaking shower. I have repaired sheetrock in the ceiling before, but that was in a computer room and I have not bothered to texture (Couldn't find brush/tool to replicate pattern). The current opening is in the Den, so I have no other choice but to have it done "right". I'm sure the Mrs. will accept nothing less.

I got an estimate from a guy to repair the opening, texture and paint for $175 (metro Houston). Is that reasonable for that size opening?

At that size you are looking at a minimum repair, not many people are coming to your house for less than that for a 1/2 day of work...

That's pretty reasonable actually.

Yea that's a decent price. Make sure it includes patching and texturing.

I got a few medium size holes done last month for $165.

For that price you shouldn't expect top notch work.

Interesting. Thank goodness it's not a "major" repair. Thx

Oh, well. And to think I was hoping to hear that the estimate was on the high side.

Time to feed the Money Pit. Thanks for the feedback!

Thats cheap. Drywall repair usually takes two trips. One to drywall & mud. Come back after it dries too finish

Well, I can be a cheapskate, so I'd better jump on that offer.

Absolutely. Be thankful that he would even take the time to do a job that small.

Might want to go ahead and prepare yourself to paint the whole ceiling in the den. That's likely going to be a noticeable paint touch up and the Mrs. Isn't going to stand for that in the den. I suspect your price is going to climb once the work commences.
Maybe you'll get lucky and the guy doesn't know the value of his skill or time (providing he does a quality job)

Thats a good price. My wife put her foot through the ceiling and I had to fix it.....I would have gladly paid that for a pro job,
