Pretenious responses after getting doctorate?

Is there anything more pretentious than a doctor correcting someone by saying "Doctor" after someone calls them "Mr." or "Ms."?

Unless it is a medical doctor, but even then, it's still pretty douchey.

I haven't either. And that's a good thing, because I would probably verbally humiliate said doctor and then things would get awkward.

and I've worked with a lot of PhDs

most of them you wouldn't even know had a PhD till you read an email from them and noticed the signature

Firstly, I didn't know that was a thing... But I absolutely had a kid in HS who was all douchey about him being called "Andrew".. I didn't even know about the Office thing.
