at the last two home games, I've noticed members of the color guard in some sort of grey uniform, is this a Pershing Rifle uniform, or is this something new for cadets? (back in the time of dinosaurs, the Pershing Rifles wore the old Army long sleeved khaki shirts with blue trousers when presenting the colors at home games)

Please educate this crusty ole colonel....

This is more true in regards to PR than you would like to think.

When I was in ROTC a number of years ago probably 75% of us posted with 100% lurking.

The tan berets are part of the Bengal Raider uniform. They get to wear them for some reason. I know this because I thought "cool, they have some former Batt guys who went back to school," but I thought it was strange there would be that many of them at one college, so I looked it up.

It's always bugged me how Dan Bourne says the colors are presented by "LSU's Reserve Officer Training Corps, the Pershing Rifles." They're not ROTC, they're an honorary group within ROTC. He makes it sound like the name of LSU's ROTC unit is Pershing Rifles. I sent him an email one time pointing it out, but got no response.

I also wonder what happened to the cannon.

Pershing rifles alum here.

The society is primarily air force cadets now. So you rarely see army uniforms. When I was in I was in every single color guard because we needed some army green in the mix

Only at LSU is that the case. Most schools and big schools with Corps like VT and A&M Army is a much much bigger player.

What he's saying is that it sounds like the name of LSU ROTC is Pershing Rifles. A more correct way to title it would be

the colors are presented by "the Pershing Rifles from LSU's Reserve Officer Training Corps. "
