LOUISVILLE, KY (KTRK) -- A boy who turns 5 this week is spreading love and acceptance around the world.

Jax Rosebush told his mother last Friday morning that he wanted his hair cropped extremely close when he got it cut over the weekend so he could look exactly like his friend Reddy. Jax said he couldn't wait for his teacher to see him Monday because she wouldn't be able to tell him and Reddy apart.

Jax's mother Lydia Rosebush was so amused by her conversation with Jax, she posted about it on Facebook later Friday morning. Her amusement goes a hair deeper than than the obvious. You see, Jax is Caucasian. And the reason that's important to this story is because Reddy is African American.

"He thought it would be so hilarious to confuse his teacher with the same haircut," Rosebush wrote. "If this isn't proof that hate and prejudice is something that is taught I don't know what is. The only difference Jax sees in the two of them is their hair."

Not their skin color.

Since Rosebush made the post on her personal Facebook page last Friday, it's received nearly 8,000 likes and more than 4,000 comments, and it's been shared almost 4,500 times. Lydia only has a little more than 300 Facebook friends.

I see another difference, Reddy is a better dresser.

If Reddy would have copied Jax's hairstyle this story would be way cooler

That reminds me. My 5-month-old son is the first male in my wife's family (either side) in more than 3 decades. Before he was born, somebody asked my 3-year-old niece, what makes boys different. She immediately responded with "they have shorter hair."

Um..what did you expect her to say? That seems like a pretty good answer for a 3 year old.

Do some people actually believe that racism is natural?

Tribalism is, sure. But hating someone for their skin color isn't natural.

This is proof that racism is learned. It is not proof that it is taught.

That's an important distinction.

You know, that's probably right. Humans are a creature that seeks patterns in everything. Racism in the form of ignorance/sterotype is probably natural.

Racism and the liberal agenda of race baiting are both equally horrible. We as adults should just shut up on both fronts and learn from these boys.

Great pictures

Nobody starts out hating another person. It just develops over a lifetime of personal experiences.

It's a nice Facebook mom story but it proves nothing other than this one child may not possess the skills of differentiation.

Research of every culture has repeated shown the natural tendency towards racism. It's how we survive.

Example: to me, all penguins look alike. A penguin is a penguin. But to an actual penguin, it's easy to spot the most subtle differences in the others because he needs to be able to find his mate in a group of a thousand penguins.

Take that penguin and ask him to spot a particular polar bear and he will say "all polar bears look alike". The penguin is not racist. He is just wired to see the world that way.

TL;DR version is I think this white kid may not be very bright.

We all know penguins are the mixed children of the world. They can't be racist, since they're half black and half white

My 3rd son gave us a similar experience when he was about 10. We had neighbors and they had a daughter about his age and one day he came running into the house all excited because he found out Shauna is from Africa (they were from Indiana).

I asked why he was saying that and he said because another kid in the neighborhood called her African American. When I explained to him that's how some people refer to people with black skin he looked at me and said "Shauna has black skin?" It was like he had never noticed their skin was different color.

I just don't understand. It's not racist to notice a color. Is your son blind?

This is absurd. But nice try at closet racism. Racism is undeniably taught and passed down.

There are three choices:
1) instinct
2) taught and passed down
3) each racist individual has personal experiences and learns racism independently

All those white southern baws with truck nuts in all white small towns just magically happened to have similar experiences fricking retarded bullshite tbh. Reality is that daddy taught them racism

That's all cute and everything, but it sounds like Jax is a goddamned moron. His cognitive development is going to be shite if he can't identify different shapes and colors.

He just has more shapes and colors to learn because he didn't grow up in a shithole where tractor parades are a thing
