Kara Moree, a project manager with Atlas Technical Consultants, says the team initially identified 32 proposed sites along the river from Brusly to Donaldsonville and has since eliminated 15 through a round of screening that included navigational analysis, travel demand information and technical bridge parameters. The team also eliminated sites that might contain protected wildlife, public recreational areas and other “sensitive resources,” she said.

It is going to take 30 years to narrow down the remaining 17

One day our great great grandchildren can sit in traffic waiting to cross the bridge.

District member Eric Kalivoda said funding for the bridge, aside from state and federal funding, will likely come from a toll.

At this point I'd be willing to pay a toll in order to get across the river within 5mins as opposed to the 30mins it takes now

I swear, we need the zombie of Huey long back for a month so he can just cut though all the red tape and make actual decisions.

This is like trying to take a woman to dinner. You can either waste all night talking about where you could go, or you can be a man and make a decision and just take her arse somewhere

Just look at how long it’s taken them to get where they are with the Picou bridge on I 10. And they are no where even close to being finished with that. This new Miss River bridge will never be completed in our lifetime.

Exactly, I remember seeing the graphic on here. And didn't Bernhard or some other local business man offer to bankroll the whole thing and have the tolls paid back to him?

This is the most Louisiana thing I've read today.

Screw letting California sink into the Pacific ocean. Louisiana needs to slide off into the Gulf first.

Wouldn’t matter. Too many beaks wanting to get wet. Huey didn’t have to deal with all that shite. At least not to the extent one does now.

Local politicians all fighting to have it put on their place or their cronies’ place so they can make money off of it. For starters.

Don’t act like Bernhard was doing this out of the goodness of his heart. His companies would get the contract at huge markups and have a crazy amount of interest tacked on the payback.

I’m just glad I have access to that beautiful wide-open Audubon bridge in New Roads.

Only wish the traffic stuck on the MRB could sit and watch me as I drive over it.
