just tired of seeing 18-19 year old kids hailed as heroes for having kids themselves and being good at football.

no other outs, they'll say. no options. no money, no family money, no support except for the generational government tapped poverty you grew up in

...and you're gonna get someone pregnant.

just once i'd like to see it said "that was a bad decision, and i don't recommend it to anyone that wishes their family good things, but i'm glad it worked out for me"

stop with the sob stories about generational bad decisions.

you're probably right, but when all you see is success stories on gameday or ESPN, you never see the ones that don't make it.

Yeah, because society really doesn't want to hear about those that don't.

The kids that are watching Gameday on Saturday mornings probably comprise a minute percentage of the kids that you described, so highlighting the bad choices as a warning to those kids doesn't play to ESPN's audience.

That said, when you highlight a kid that is great on the field and is taking care of his own family while "going to school", then that plays nicely with the 25-54 year old white men that are watching.

i'm sure you're right. it's just depressing. ...and untouchable, apparently.

look at all the ppl that just reply "frick you, choke on a dick and die." let's just never talk about it and it'll get better

this, too is a big deal. for ESPN, it's a perpetual motion machine, they'll have 50 of these to choose from every year forever.

Isn't a kid taking care of his family a good thing?

Especially if they come from a segment of the population where young parents, especially fathers, don't.

I'd say that's a pretty solid role model for young ones. Better than some of the other celebrities that kids look up to at least.

absolutely, but HAVING A FAMILY at that age in the first place was a bad decision. which is the point.

I agree. Just saying if they're gonna have kids at a young age, which they are, I'm not going to have a problem with guys like this getting camera time.

It's kind of choose your battles thing you know? If I go around letting everything in our current society that I don't like raise my blood pressure I won't make it to 40
