Community mourns loss of teacher, 23

So sad. I know people on this board probably know him but..he's an officer, works with firearms regularly (one can assume) and he shoots his wife on accident when cleaning a gun?

Does this add up?

Seems off to me. Don't mean to offend any of his friends/family.

Anyway, it is terribly tragic.

I still will NEVER believe "accidental" killings by "gun cleaning".

It's been posted and I don't get it either.

This happens, however given his line of work with a gun.. you'd think he would exercise more caution. I mean really.. what are the chances he's doing this, doesn't empty the bullets, and it goes off exactly wherever she is standing inside the home.. and it is also a fatal shot shot..

Just seems questionable to me. Not trying to make assumptions, but just frustrated at this. She looked like such a sweet person.

They just recently married sometime last year I believe.

She does look very nice, with a great future.

Very sad story.

Sounds like the husband is the one that lacks firearm knowledge...

...or it wasn't an accident.

Seriously?
How fricking clueless can one be to go to the trouble to clean a dangerous weapon, but not take the extra 2 seconds to remove any rounds?

Very possible this actually happened as an accident.

When I was in my teens my dad was sitting on the edge of his bed. He grew up with firearms, very respectable of them, and knew how to handle them. Anyways, he was cleaning a colt .45. Was sitting on the corner of the bed, but got up to walk outside before he finished.

He placed the magazine in, racked the slide, dropped the mag, added another round to the Mag, and slammed the mag back in. When he placed the mag back in, the gun went off. Shot a round through the mattress into the floor.

#1 rule of weapons safety, assume the gun is ALWAYS LOADED until YOU personally check and clear it.

#2 rule - NEVER have the barrel pointed at something you arent willing to DESTROY
