Yeah, those people who have the audacity to ask to get a unit permit signed so they can do their job are such dicks.

I'm doing great actually. Still not qualified for the plants though. My biggest regret in life.

I'm sure you just need another degree to hang on your wall and then you will make it. No need to prove how valuable you are if you can just point to some framed paper on the wall.

You mean sign a legal contract with someone they hardly know or never met that if not done correctly could cost them their jobs (possibly their freedom)? Meanwhile the person coming in shows up with arse and face talking about some other contact engineer that gave them the ok to do this. No FEWA, no work order, no engineering packet, nothing.

I'm not sad at all.

I actually go into plants (and everywhere else) and solve real problems.

I watch fatasses, like yourself, push buttons in control rooms living each day closer to an untimely, monatanus death.

Start at a smaller plant. Gain experience, show up to work, qualify, and a stay out of trouble. Start applying at bigger plants after a year or 2. Something will open up eventually, you just need to make sure you have fill out an application each time a bigger job opens. Ex: Nucor Steel over in Convent is hiring. People are constantly moving out of there in a year or 2 to bigger jobs.

Knowing the right people helps too. But from personal experience, you can land a job at a bigger name plant with a Bachelors in a field that has nothing to do with industrial work. The interview process is changing throughout the industry so that those without experience can have a chance to be hired. Each plant is going to train you in how they want things done regardless of if you're new or been in plants 10+ years.

No, I mean taking you away from your conversation about your garden and cooking spaghetti sauce to sign a permit so someone can inspect a pump.

Why? We are just going to run it until it fails because you sold us seals that don't function in rear world environments.

Yeah I love the jerks that walk in and just expect me to stop what I'm doing to accommodate them.

I'm running five units with two people, I'll get to you when I can. Truck drivers are the worst.

Everyone has their jobs. No one is perfect.

Operators can be total assholes, most are just fine. Usually the person brings the a-hole out in them. It usually spawns from someone not realizing they walked into someone's house and basically demanded something.

"I need a permit"
"I'm going to look at"
"We're waiting on"

No, it's just part of a monthly inspection that's been happening for years, yet the operators act as if they've never had the encounter before in their lives

Get you a PTEC degree and those HR people will punch a hole through the keyboard when they're inviting you for testing and/or an interview.

that can be said for pretty much everything. If I took two classes a semester for twenty semesters I could be a lawyer.

You can give me a hard time besides deferring to anybody can get a Masters with enough time. That's a dumbass argument because no shite Sherlock.
