Pilot of the twin-engine Piper PA-34 Seneca that crashed yesterday in Connecticut is in critical condition but is able to speak to detectives and FBI

Says crash was no accident as it hit a utility tower and wires on final approach to Brainard Airport in Hartford

Passenger who died is a 28 year old Jordanian national who entered the U.S. in 2012 on an M1 visa for flight school and was issued a pilot's license in May 2015 and was certified to fly a single-engine plane.

ETA: Details aren't fully released. Only that pilot says it wasn't an accident. If you look at the description of the dead passenger the possibility exists that he could have tried to take over the plane.

So it purposefully hit a utility tower?

That's a strange terror target.

Can you explain why it wasn't an accident in the OP?

So, the implication is that the Jordanian passenger intentionally caused the crash?

So the non-terrorist pilot flew it into a utility pole?

What could the target have been? Something in New York?

Those are doctor killers. It's can fly a bit faster and higher than the Cessna 172's a lot of novice pilots use.

Here is the way I see it, the student pilot attempted to take control of the plan with intentions of flying it somewhere else for some other purpose. The instructor pilot realizing this fought the student for control of the plane and in the process struck a utility tower/pole and crashed. The other question that will come up is if the Jordanian had a pilot certificate why is he being called a student and flying with a instructor. He had a single engine rating, the plane they crashed was a twin engine plane, he was with a flight instructor for the purpose of obtaining a multiengine rating.

Are these pilots of small planes allowed to be armed?

If I was letting strangers have control of the plane I would like a way to handle a situation like this.

To the people saying "oh because he ran into a utility pole how could it have been on purpose?". There could have been a struggle or something that sent the plane in the direction of the utility pole..

That seems to be the obvious situation. While the pilot was flying, the terrorist dude could have tried to attack the pilot so he could take over the plane, maybe the pilot was trying to get the plane down before the terrorist could get an opportunity to take over.

You are right. When I first read it I was thinking they were in on it together. I didn't realize it was a teacher/student deal.

Yes good ness haha the Jordanian didn't try to hit the pole, the American instructor pilot hit the pole on purpose because the Jordanian was trying to take over the plane to use as terrorism.

Pretty sure he's insinuating that the target was the airport and he hit the power lines by accident.
