My girlfriend ( no pics ) has a Nikon D-60, she wants a flash for it. I was going to buy her one off of ebay but i have no idea what a decent brand is that is not overly expensive. Any advice would be appreciated

Hmmm. A Nikon flash?
Seriously, guaranteed to be compatible with the camera and known quality. Stick with the manufacturer on this.

Agreed
Buy aftermarket glass but stick with the manufacturer on flash.

ok, what size or shape or features? She is just getting into this and I dont want to dump a lot of money into it if shes not going to use it to make a profit

Really depends on what she will be doing with it. There are 5 current Nikon speedlights. I wouldn't go below the SB-400, particularly if she will be using it mostly for fill light.
That being said, I have the SB-700 and love it. I can use it remotely, as a commander for other flashes and have a variety of manual adjustments available, but it may be more than she will need.

SB700 cheaper than the 800 but still nice refresh time, off camera firing, auto, etc

Wife and father both have nikon flashes. Go with the one for the camera.
