Phoenix vs Seattle - Pros/Cons of Relocating
Posted on 6/1/16 at 7:10 pm

I got job offers with the same organization in both Seattle and Phoenix. Other than cost of living and weather, can someone explain to me the differences in living in each and why I should choose one city over the other. I'm an outdoorsman and nature freak and understand both are extremely different environments.
Thanks!
Thanks!

What are your thoughts on rain?
That answer should easily guide your decision.

I don't mind rain but I think year round I would prefer the weather of Phoenix over Seattle.

In a catastrophe, would you rather flee to Canada or Mexico?

Can someone assist me in moving this to the TB?

Canada

Seattle is much more compact, has a larger downtown, and is significantly more walkable with better public transit. Phoenix has some urban sprawl issues IMO. It's possible to live in Seattle without a car, don't think that would be possible in Phoenix.
Based on my expert opinion after visiting Phoenix twice, Seattle seems to be significantly more expensive.

I know nothing about Seattle...but Phoenix metro area is HUGE. Very sprawled out. There are light rails but those only good for the ASU are in Tempe and downtown PHX really.
If you come to Phoenix...you want to live in Scottsdale(that's where I live). MUCH nicer area. I love it here...but it isn't for everyone.
I'm sure the surrounding areas of Seattle are GORGEOUS...but I hate rainy weather so I know I would quickly tire of it.

I would pick Seattle mainly because 120 five months of the year gets old quickly. You feel like your an egg getting fried every time you go outside for five months.

Pot is legal in Washington and you're only a short drive from Canada.
If you prefer Asians to Hispanics and don't mind shitty weather or outrageous living costs, then I'd say choose Seattle.

I would imagine this as well.
Housing costs in Phoenix area(even Scottsdale) really are not that bad. We rent a 3br/2 bathroom 1400 sq ft home with 2 car garage in Scottsdale for $1450/mo(that includes landscaping as well). And Scottsdale is considered the most expensive part of Phoenix metro to live in.

If you are a single male that enjoys the company of beautiful women, Phoenix is your ticket. Hook up with lsu480 for some Peptide therapy and your cock will never leave your side.

Ha! My one bedroom, one bath no-refrigerator-included apartment in Burbank scoffs. They are going for about $1500 now.
For the OP, I would choose Seattle. I love to visit Phoenix, but no way I could handle that heat full time. Give me the rain any day.

You really get used to it. Most everyone has pools to cool off in. You learn to just stay inside during the hottest parts of the day. Also...on weekends you can easily just drive 2 hours up to northern AZ (such as Flagstaff) and be in much cooler temps(like highs of low 80s).

I was in the Seattle area for 5 days, no rain and beautiful. That being said, I'd go with Phoenix.

I met a woman a few months ago that just moved to Scottsdale from L.A. She was so excited how much cheaper housing was here. I think she said her tiny one bedroom apt(forget where)was like $1800. With no on site laundry, no other amenities, no parking, no on site management.

Buddy works for Amazon, he makes hella money. Doesn't own a car, because to park it is like 1k a month. He loves it though, ubers everywhere.

Honestly though...not a horrible situation to be in at all. I would imagine several would love to have that choice.
Good luck
