Groundhog Day is coming up and the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals or PETA is calling for change.
The animal rights group said it sent a letter this week to Tom Dunkel, The Punxsutawney Groundhog Club’s president, offering to send the club a giant gold coin to replace Punxsutawney Phil and give him a reputable sanctuary.
How in the Hell do they know what a groundhog likes or doesn’t like? That groundhog lives a life of Luxury

Years ago. PETA was picketing at BRPD 1st District. Idiots thought it was the K9 facility. That place was by the airport. Anyway, I stopped and talked to them as I was headed up to the District for a meeting. I asked what they were mad about and they went on about how the police K9's were caged most of the time and tortured blah, blah, blah.
I said "you know these dogs live with the handlers families? The handlers love their dogs more than they love most people. The dogs love their job and that's what it is to them. A job. You know they are a badged member of the department?
The protesters were stunned. They huddled up (there were only five or six of them), talked for a minute and then got in their cars and left. Didn't even really know what they were protesting.

They should go back to the original tradition and thank PETA for prompting them to do it. Wait for the groundhog to emerge, determine if it saw it's shadow, bop it on the head then skin it and cook it.
