Personality Test for Job

Have a personality test I have to do for a job I'm applying for. The ones where they ask questions like "Should an employee be fired for stealing?" then ask "Have you ever stolen a pencil?" How do yall play this? Truthfully? Answer how the company wants you to answer?

Your best bet is to lie your arse off

Depends on what they stole and for what purpose...

Yes. (answer truthfully to things like this)
I've done it. Its not too hard to answer logically and in a way that reflects well on yourself i.e. LIE
I got asked if I was an animal, what would I be and why? Just don't answer something weird to shite like that and you're fine. I think I said "an eagle so I could fly, have unlimited freedom to travel the world, and see everything from a different perspective"
Or some shite like that...

All I know is when they say stuff like "Everyone smokes pot from time to time," you should be reading that statement as I instead of everyone. They're trying to trick you!

Only if the employee is a white heterosexual male with no disabilities.

I've taken a DISC Assessment for 2 of my jobs, and that seems a lot harder to bullshite then a lot of personality tests. It has you rank 4 qualities or actions from least to most important, and all of them seem important in their own way.

Just keep your answers consistent. If they are not, then the distortion score will go up and it will show that you are not answering honestly.

Just keep in mind that part of the test is seeing if you're dumb enough to be fully honest at all times.

i took one for my current job and i "failed" it.
my current boss couldn't believe it, but it was company policy, so he paid for my time off from my previous job to do two on-the-job trial days and hired me immediately after.
so, yes, answer how the company wants, but honestly.

These tests are getting more sophisticated in finding a match for corporate culture.
Right or wrong, I've been involved on this hiring side in executive searches where a deciding factor in making the final cut was the applicant's profile results from one of these tests.
You can try to BS your way through the test, but it's actually easier to BS your way through an interview.

From what I've gathered from people who work there the questions list answers as "Strongly agree, agree, neutral, disagree, strongly disagree". I've heard of the control questions too where they ask the same thing 4 times just worded different. I'll be looking out for those. So just bullshite the thing and I should be good to go, gotcha.

Answer consistently. Be Honest but not too honest.

When I was in college I applied for some ridiculous part-time position with Dick's Sporting Goods. I remember their application was really intricate and involve a 30-minute-long personality test that had similar questions to the one you mentioned.
I answered it truthfully and therefore never received a call back or invite for a second interview. Coincidence? I think not.

Depending on the sophistication of the test, it may have one or more validation scales that do a decent job of testing for truthfulness, consistency, defensiveness, and trying to appear overly virtuous. If you score too low on the validation scale because the test basically says you are lying, then you could fail.
Not so sure "lie your arse off" is the best advice.

Is it one of those that has five or six different choices for answers, varying from "strongly agree" to "strongly disagree?" If so you always answer "strongly agree" or "strongly disagree" depending on the question. These tests are made to determine if you have a wishy-washy personality. Potential employers like to hire people with confidence and that can make a decision.

You definitely take the righteous and hard working options
Depending on if it's a sales type job you'd always pick the social option rather than the "spend time alone" option.
Stay consistent with your choices, don't try to "split the difference" on similar future questions.

Yep, they do like to ask the same question in different ways on those things. Often several times.
