Took a drive down some back roads this afternoon. Beautiful scenery with overhanging cypress trees, crossing through bayous and pastures. Truly gorgeous southern areas...and you look to the side of the road and see it fricking littered with garbage and shite. I'm not the biggest environmentalist but damn people are slobs sometimes. It's truly sad.

It's a lot better than it used to be. When I was little, it was nothing to see cars throw big McDonalds sacks out the window all the time.

Typically a Louisiana thing.
The southern portion of the state is absolutely filthy. Don't like it? Don't care.
That state (like I said, typically more so the southern portion) is reprehensively disgusting. It's a shame, because as the OP mentioned, it has some beautiful natural scenery.

I grew up in Louisiana but have lived across the south and southwest. I've always owned a truck, but only in Louisiana did I constantly have strangers throwing fast food trash in my bed. I wouldn't always realize it until I saw it flying out the back. Always made me angry.

It's worse at well known bank fishing spots. I don't get it. Just pick up your beer cans the dumpster is literally within a stones throw.

The truth hurts. If your lazy arse citizens gave two shits, I wouldn't have to make this post. Your citizens degrade such a unique and beautiful part of our country. As a native Texan, it bothers me that it pisses me off more than your own citizens.
I'm not calling anyone out in this post, but it does rile me up. Once again, as the OP mentioned, Louisiana has some beautiful parts. Take fricking care of it.

Most litter comes from the beds of pickup trucks.
However, I have seen people throwing fast food bags, diapers, soda cups, etc in broad daylight at major intersections in BR. Look at every major intersection and you'll notice piles of trash nearby. It's fricking disgusting.

I was driving down 190 outside Baton Rouge a couple of months ago and pulled up at a red light. The guy in the pickup next to me must have dumped about a month's worth of fast food trash out of his driver's side door. He even dumped an ashtray full of cigarette butts as a coup de gras at the end. Just drove on down the road when the light turned green like nothing had happened.

I posted a few months ago regarding that particular road (190). We were on i-10 and were re-routed to BR through 190.
Until that point, I have never seen couches, recliners, love seats, box springs, mattresses and old box TVs thrown on the side of the road.
Pure filth.
