People combing through flood debris for metal

Was helping friends clean out their flooded home on labor day. Their entire house was a loss. Their entire street was a loss. They were still in the process of cleaning stuff out and piling it up and instead of offering to help people these thug POs come by with a truck and start digging through the piles for metal. I told them to GTFO and that maybe their time would be more valuable helping others. I'm not sure the POS understood English but it burned me up.

They aren't hurting anyone doing that. Let them try to make some money so they can send it back down to Mexico

No they weren't. They were trying to capitalize personally during a time were all hands were needed for cleanup. You are telling me with the entire city flooded they couldn't find someone to help instead of trying to make money. Eff them.

If they're digging through the stuff at the road and not making a mess by scattering the pile, then I don't see the issue

Frustrating but gotta deal with it. You can't really police junk that's eventually going to be thrown away in due time.

Because of the bigger mess they make when they dig through everything and scatter stuff everywhere and in your ditch. Plus, it's downright red a$$ing to see someone go through your things that you just lost and are dealing with. It's not just a trash thing jackwaggon!
UPDATE: Can't believe all of the downvotes for being hacked that people are going through all of your hard earned and ruined things out by the road. It just seems so insensitive to try to make a buck off of someone else's tragedy. Obviously you downvoters didn't flood or lose anything that ever mattered to you. Most of the people who lost everything almost looked at this as looting. They would rather it go to a landfill than some idiots coming to rake over the bones at the end of the driveway. I can't tell you how many people I knew that felt this way and ran these idiots off. Half of the time the people stopping to pull scrap metal left things laying all over the yard, ditch and side of the street for the home owner to have to pick up and relive all over again. Have a little heart people!!

If that bothers you, you better get a Xanax prescription for what's about to happen over the next several months

They weren't offering to take trash. They only wanted metal. I told him to come inside and help us tear out sheet rock and move heavy wet furniture and he could take what he wanted at the end of the day. He looked at me like I had turnips growing out of my ears. I sent him on his way.

Dude you need to calm down.
You're making too big of a deal.
Get back to work helping others and be thankful you didn't flood

I wouldn't let it bother me too much unless they were scattering the trash around or something like that. Better the metal be recycled instead of taking up space in a landfill. If they're digging through trash for scrap metal then they almost assuredly worse off than the homeowners even post-flood.
That said, lets get that fuking wall built.

If they were doing this a week or two later when everyone had mucked out their houses it wouldn't be an issue. The fact that they couldn't lift a finger to help any one of the thousands in need burned my arse.

These guys were digging through trash in order to make money. I don't see an issue. Better than begging on the street or crime.

I know. I read what you said the first time and responded.

If they're not making a mess of the pile, I don't see an issue at all.
They're moving what you consider garbage away from the house and street.
Pros:
- Debris moved free of charge
- Metal recycled
- Poor people get money
Cons:
- They didn't walk into a stranger's house and help them tear down dry wall so you're mad

why do you hate industrious young men who are at least taking part of your trash away and making a little cash off it?
when i was a kid this was called collecting coke bottles for the deposit.

I dont see the problem here. Unless they make a mess.
