Was hanging out with a group of people last night for my wife's best friend's birthday. The evening started at a restaurant where everyone had just a drink or two. About 12 people total. Age range of group is about 26-30

Afterwards, we go to house of the birthday girls boyfriend to hang out before hitting the bars. Everyone drove, and I say that to illustrate that at this point in the night, no one was even close to being drunk.

Her boyfriends gun safe is in his living room, and me and another guy were asking him about what he had. He asked if we wanted to check it out, and we said sure. He took out his Remington 700 and Egyptian AK-47. All being responsible gun owners, we were very discrete about this, barrels pointed downwards at all times, fingers off the triggers, etc. they were also, of course, unloaded.

Well, holy shite, you would've thought someone had just busted into the house wearing a ski mask and brandishing an uzi by people's reactions.

Both guys and girls started flipping out, telling us how reckless we were being, and that someone could get killed. The owner tells everyone that they're not loaded, but that if it's making people feel uncomfortable, we'd put them away. That was met with a resounding yes.

The pussification of America is real....

there is a time and a place for everything...and when you are partying with friends is probably not the time to be dragging out assault weapons....

I think that it was reasonable for some of those folks to be uncomfortable that yall were fricking around with assault rifles after drinks. Should they have freaked out? No.

But me personally, I would've had no issue with it.

Guns kill people. You wouldn't want one to jump out of your friends hand and go on a killing spree.

You don't pull out guns with alcohol involved.

You should have pointed the gun at the person that said you were being reckless and yelled "get on the ground!"

I am just glad yall were all too drunk to start "cleaning" the guns.
That's when innocent people start dying.

Yeah, nothing quite says discrete like pulling out an AK-47.

Never mind last night. This thread itself proves that the pussification of America is real.

I hope none of y'all have ever driven after having 1 beer. That's about as dangerous as what we did.

I'm in between on this issue. I don't think anyone should be handling firearms when alcohol is involved in anyway. However if y'all were sober they probably would have reacted the same way, and I don't see any harm in checking out his guns when y'all are sober and following proper safety.

People who have never been around guns and have never learned how to handle a gun properly are either 1) completely scared of guns and heavily for banning them or 2) they're interested in guns and don't know how to use them safely and likely to hurt someone. Everyone should learn how to use a gun safely and properly

He said they weren't inebriated, and they weren't exactly playing Russian roulette. What's funny is: those same individuals who were appalled by taking out the guns while consuming alcohol, didn't think twice about having a beer and driving their car to the guys house where the guns were.
