There is this commercial for this home cycling excersise machine and in it, they talk about you having access to some of the best spinning instructors in the country. Then they show a few clips of the instructors and they are either peddling and making," come here" gestures with their hands.
Here is what I want to know, and tell me what I'm missing. Why would anyone pay money so someone could lead them in a spinning class?
What could this instructor do that's worth any money? Peddle slow, peddle faster! What else?
To me it seems like a giant scam.
Heck, I could be and expert because I can peddle fast and slow!

It's not meant to be a revelation. I want an answer for why anyone would pay for someone to show them how to pedal a bike. Thanks for your input though.
But I get it. You are on the OT so you have to be cool.

You obviously have never taken a spin class before.

It's like being in a class at a gym, but getting to stay at home. Plus, it gives you real time data of how you are competing with others in your class. You can do live classes or join an already finished class.

Competition, motivation, having a goal, "being part of a group".

Same reasons people go to classes led by an instructor at the gym.

It's not a difficult concept. They take you on various programs that help you get in shape. Could you just peddle faster/slower...sure. But, if you actually trained with someone that knew what they were doing, then you would likely get better results.

I don't have a peloton bike (want one sooooo badly but they cost 2k). However I do use the peloton app on my phone 3-4 times a week.

I can go to the gym whenever I want and have my own personal spin class. There are several different instructors and several types/lengths of spin classes. The app also has some other workouts (off the bike) that the instructors lead you in (yoga, stretching, body weight exercises, etc).

Ok, I get that, but what can an instructor do besides peddle that's worth money?

Yes, but in a gym, it's filled with equipment and there are 100's of exercises the trainer can show you. What can a spinning instructor show you bedsides peddling?

Yeah that was pretty easy to ascertain. But it wasn't very clever.
