They're feasible, but not the quality of DH Horton.

They're building my house. So far so good. In about 2 months I'll be able to give a final verdict.

I went with them for a couple of reasons.

1. because my wife fell in love with a particular floor plan and the other reputable builders we tried working with didn't like the plan and wanted her to abandon it. They redrew some of the complexity out of it and put about 20 hours in with my wife before a contract was ever signed.
2. I couldn't find a single bad thing about them on Tigerdroppings which was a big plus.
3. A couple of trustworthy friends had previous good experiences with them as well.

I met with Mr Passman and he was very upfront and honest. I think he is the Pres of the LA home builders association. In the end I went with Colby Constructors. Custom house will be complete in under 3 months. I went every day and the quality is great. Dude is on top of his schedule like nobody's business.

Although we now live in Montana, Jerry Passman built our home in Geismar in the Old Mill Subdivision. I was very pleased and worked well with my wife on picking our the right lighting, door knobs , cabinet handles etc. I would definitely recommend from the experience I had. When we got ready to move to Montana he had one of his contractors come out and help me on some things and that was 5 years after having built the house. Best of luck but a definite recommend from me and my wife.

Other posters reminded me of a few things:

1. They have been extremely fast in getting it built. Should be right at 4 months from the day they staked it out to completion. So apparently they schedule well. My neighbors used other builders and are complimentary of how fast Passman is moving.
2. The whole process with the decorator going pick all the shite out with my wife ahead of time was awesome. So far all the choices look great together.
3. Passman is very upfront. So far I can't fault him in any way.

yeah, he seemed really nice.... we are trying to get someone to build a floor plan we really like (not one of his).... we have been through this process 3 times now, for various reasons, so we really are hoping the dude can do what we need, for the budget we have...

beermoney, what was the price per sq. ft. Passman runs? just curious, because we haven't gotten to that stage yet... and also, was there any times during construction where they may have come at you for more money, or more than the agreed upon amount?
