How much different are your boys vs your girls? I ask because I don’t really have anything to compare my boy to because he’s the only one vs two girls.

My two girls are both very intelligent. The boy is smart as well. They’re all in magnet programs. The two girls are interested in succeeding in their school work. They work hard on it and they are very successful. They go to a school where you have to test to get in. The boy tested and got in as well, but his attitude in school isn’t anywhere near the girls. He’s successful, but not as committed whatsoever.

Their behaviors are also completely different also. My girls are pretty conservative, quiet, always walking the straight line. Now, the boy is a bit different. Always into something. Always getting behavior marks at school (granted they’re minor, but he understands what he’s doing). We caught him this morning trying to forge my wife’s initials on his behavior report. Overall, he’s a good kid. He doesn’t disrespect anyone and he knows what’s right and what’s wrong. But he’s CONSTANTLY toeing that line to see how much he can get with whenever he can.

Just curious as to the OTs experience with their kids.

Girls are 13 and 8. Boy is 6.

My boys are smart as hell, but lack common sense
It's baffling

My boy pulls his pants down every chance he gets.

Just like his old man.

Sounds like your boy is younger and has testosterone. I'm not sure what you're asking.

always easier to forge moms signature than dads

i did the same thing and i turned out, well...im somewhere in the thick of the bell curve. not showing off, not falling behind.

Sound like average kids for that age. Although society would tell you that the boy is a heathen and there’s something wrong with him.

i wonder if there is a single parent out there who will say their kid is stupid? every parent describes their kids as being smart. when this empirically cannot be true.

same logic that everyone thinks they are in the top 10% of drivers on the road.

Like I said, I just ask because I don’t have anything to compare him to my girls are “perfect” (I’m a sucker, I know) and never give me any problems.

Sound like perfectly normal development for kid to me. Although you may want to address the issue of forging your wife' initials, that's not real normal for a 6 year old.

Remember, girls mature faster than boys anyway, so you are used to female children and when your boy isn't quite a mature as your daughters were at that age, you wonder "is this normal?" well yes it is.

Nah, I’d tell you if my kids were stupid. Like I said, they go to a magnet school with pretty high standards. They’re not learning ABCs in the 4th grade.

Oldest Girl - first born, does well because thats what she was taught and now with younger siblings may feel she has to set the standard.
Middle daughter - wants to be like big sis
youngest/first boy - may have gotten away with a little more as the baby ect and now knows he can push that line till the breaking point. School wise he knows his sisters do well and he does enough just to keep pace

Just my .02

Sounds like a typical boy to me. Just keep guiding him. He'll be okay.
