When I show figures like these (and there are many of them, parental leave, work hours, military spending, class inequality, etc) to my students, they are STUNNED. Most Americans are woefully ignorant of how pro-business U.S. policies are compared to the policies of like countries. I think this ignorance contributes to the resistance many Americans display when politicians and activists talk about improving protections for workers.

Yep, that’s right. In every country included except Canada and Japan (and the U.S.), workers get at least 20 paid vacation days. In France and Finland, they get 30… an entire month off, paid, every year.

If our paid time off went up, our pay would likely go down

I'm fine with what we got

I created my own job so I wouldn't have to be on The Man's clock. When you work for The Man, The Man makes the rules. Thankfully we are all free in America to find/create a better situation more to our liking.

Earn more vacation days. If your employer thinks you're worth giving four weeks to, then you'll get it or he risks losing you to someone who will...unless you need the government to do everything for you.

Someone who gets weekends, every government holiday and summers off wrote that article.

I swear, people don't want to work anymore. They want to get paid, but don't want to work.

Don't complain when immigrants take your jobs.

Also some of those European countries have big gaps in the workforce, good luck with that when the old people are hungry and too old to work and the young are too lazy and want hand outs too.

I get 30 paid days off each year. I also get all government holidays off in addition to 4 (I think) family days off, and paternity leave (2 weeks when our daughter was born, it may be higher now). I love America.

salaried workers get paid holidays. but many hourly wage workers get nothing. For example, no work on Christmas, no pay.

So Finland gives off around 11% of the year, not counting weekends. If the retards that work for me would do their job in a somewhat timely fashion I'd be happy to let them have more days off.

I take at least 5 week of UNPAID vacation every year. Because I own the company and I don't pay myself if I don't work. I'd rather have the time than the money. Others would rather have the money. Free country. No right way, just personal preference.

Not quite. The article is stating that there are no federal mandates or laws that require employers to give vacation days or holidays to workers....even though most do.
