Build one out of brick on a concrete base with vents on the bottom so it’s easy to hose out. You can keep grass around it or build a patio/deck. I prefer the grass.

If you aren't looking for a permanent one, Front Gate has a nice copper one.

I've got this one. I really like it. Holds a lot of wood and easy to keep clean.

This badass retro Coleman is what I use as a mobile fire pit. It's awesome:
However, I'm planning to build a permanent landscaping block fir pit this summer.

I rigged up mine with some tubing I drilled holes into and hooked my propane tank to it

Have a friend making these custom. 48" x 48" pictured. Big, heavy, and good looking.

Looks good, but also like an accident waiting to happen.

how do you keep people from tripping? I can only imagine how many people would sit around having a few beers...talking about the glory days...then decide they have to go to the bathroom only to have their toes get caught in the cracks between those large rocks. I think I would prefer a more level surface.

That looks nice. Brick is the way to go if it is permanent.
This is mine. Four foot inside diameter. 1/8" steel ring inside that a grill can be placed on. The bricks go about 2 deep into the ground.
This baby burns with the best of them and it has seen its fair share of wood. No vent needed and each year I just shovel out the ash.

That's how you do it, baw!
Pussification: hiring someone to build you a brick patio for a fire pit.
Something a fruit basket from New York would do.

So that's what those things are good for.

That's ok. I got nothing but love for you and your trailer park fire pit, brah.

i really want to have a built in fire pit seating area in one section of an "S" curve, with the other side being the jacuzzi in the pool, when we put a pool in...
