OT Workout Crew: Do you do Face Pulls?

I just learned how to do these a couple of weeks ago as an accessory exercise. I did 5x10 after deadlifting yesterday and I'm sore as shite. I was doing the pause for 2 seconds at the squeeze point of each rep. my traps are sore as crap.

There are several variations to these - are you talking about specifically the band?
The closest thing I do is ring rows to work on pullups/ring pullups. That can be humbling at the end of a workout. I'm not as young as I used to be.

do you incorporate them often? do you find them beneficial?

I usually finish shoulders with these. I do a drop set X 3. Kills it.

I used to, but I get horrible knots in my shoulders from them.

And you keep everything up high? Hands and forearms stay at/above shoulder height?

Elbows stay above your wrists. Pull all the way back.

yes. position the cable (rope) slightly below your head. pull to forehead spreading the rope apart and holding for 2 seconds.

Jim Wendler of 531 fame is a huge fan of these.

When I do ring rows from almost parallel - I got a lot of this dynamic - not so much on the rear shoulder doing the pull, but lots of shoulder tension at the squeeze portion "at the top" - still mainly an upper lat exercise from that angle, but I do feel it on the posterior side of the shoulders, as well. I squeeze (or try to) the shoulder blades at the top for a count or so.

not really
face pulls
watch the video of inside this article..this is how I did them

A trainer used to tell me to position the cable at about chest height and pull towards the face but keep your elbows above the wrist. You do that until your shoulder blades are fully engaged.
It looks different from that video for sure.

doing them the way on that video works mainly the traps and upper back
