So I just saw a lady I work with get her car taken. She's going through a divorce dead beat husband was supposedly paying for the car. REPO man was a complete dick head, I understand pay your bills, blah blah blah. This guy was getting a hard on from someone else misery made me sick to watch. So my question, why would you pull it from her job and not her home? I know they have a job but you don't have to get joy from the lady having a tough time.

You must not be too familiar with the ways of the repo crowd.

either to be a dick and cause as much pain and embarrassment as possible, or less risky because repoee is less likely to be armed at work, or both

Because it is considered out in public while she's at work. If its a her home the laws are a little gray and the repo man could be in deep shite for taking it.

I 100% believe if you aren't paying your note they should be able to get it, but to just humiliate her in public. He was screaming "lady I done heard all the excuses". Wanted to throat punch his arse. Our boss even offered to get her caught up so he wouldn't take the car, wasn't hearing it.

I don't think it works like that. The guy was just doing his job and it sounds like the woman was being hysterical and giving him a hard time.

Ummm, isn't this the point? Why would he turn that down? Oh, I guess he wouldn't get his tow fee...

I know a guy from work that went through an ugly divorce and was paying his ex's car note with a very low balance remaining on the loan, he defaulted on the loan just so the whip would be repoed

His job is to take someone's car.

How can anything he does be polite or nice?

I would bet he could be the nicest guy in the world and because of his job, people would still claim he was being a total jerk

Because the tow company isn't owned by the people that own the note on the car. In theory you could call the financer and pay then and there but he would probably still tow it because I'm sure there is a bunch of bullshite paperwork for them to go through.

I'm not a repo guy and have never been repo'd just speaking through experience of a co-worker

Her explanation means nothing to the repo guy. He was hired to do a job can't blame him for it. I'm sure he appreciated everyone at your office ganging up on him too.

I have a friend in FL that has an old 41' Hatteras that was repoed(he owned it outright) in a kind of sting operation involving a patent dispute, the boat had almost no fuel in it at the time of repo but was topped off after the repo, boat was put up for auction, my friend goes to auction and buys his boat back for less than the price of filling the fuel tank

He has a contract with the bank for the repo. She has a separate contract with the bank to pay for the car. The two don't coincide. Her boss can contact the bank and make amends and she can then get the car back.
