Undergoing kitchen reno and I need to buy a couple of garbage disposals. I had no idea there would be so many choices. Primarily looking at Waste King and InSinkErator. Is there a huge different in brands because the InSinkErator is basically twice as much.

What about HP? Looking at 3/4 and 1 HP units. Again, a big jump in price between the two.

Thoughts please? TIA.

I didn't spend a lot on mine and it's been fine.
Just be careful what you put in them.

Disposals stink. I can smell them in people's houses. People get used to the smell and don't even realize how bad they can stink.

Badger.

Can pick up at Lowes, HD or plumbing supply.

My plumber recommends. 3/4 horse should be plenty.

Never had an issue with two insinkerators. They may be more by I don't remember spending more the $300 on it. Cheap ones leak. That's a mess.

We just remodeled our kitchen and decided to go without one. I don't miss it at all.

Yes, the stupid people that put chicken skin down them.

I have had disposals in my last three houses. Properly used and maintained, they don't contribute to any off odors in a home.

You must hang with dumb trashy dirty people.

Get new friends or rent to better clientele.

You are just used to the smell. Like people with litter boxes that don't smell the catshit.

Go to Coburns and get the biggest motor possible.

ETA: I just checked mine. It's the 3/4hp Insinkerator model Pro 750-2. It was a jump to go with that one and I think it was the best one the Coburns offered. My last house the disposal leaked and tripped a lot. Didn't want to go through that crap again.

I would never have a cat and litter box in my house. Those things are nasty AF. Like I said before, I have had disposals in the last three of my homes and no smells at all. But then again, my house is as clean as an operating room without the MRSA.

If you have different experiences, maybe you need to get friends/rentals with better hygiene habits. They are obviously nasty people with nasty stupid habits.

Get the biggest hp possible. You want to put a whole chicken in it bones and all and turn it into chicken water!

Mine went out about a year ago (started leaking because it rusted through). I upgraded a bit and went with the insinkerator Badger 15SS from Lowes. SS means it is stainless steel, so this one shouldn't rust through like the last one. This is also a decent product in about the middle of the price range that was available. Comes with a soundproofing cover and was very easy to connect up.

Waste of money. Just throw your food in the garbage and take out the trash regularly.
