I may have gotten too close to the brown eye last night and contracted pink eye. Do I need to go get antibiotic drops or will it go away on its own? Thanks

You need to know specifically what you're dealing with first. Ask the guy who owns the brown eye to get tested.

Getting the drops wouldn't hurt.
Get an eyepatch too. That way you can pretend to be a pirate.

I scratched my eyeball once after taking a nap with my contacts in. Made a makeshift eye patch to wear cause of the pain and my husband spent the entire rest of the day talking like a pirate anytime he spoke to me.
OP.....get the drops and stay away from people(call in sick to work), nobody wants pink eye!

4 ways to get pink eye: bacterial, viral, allergies, and STD. Drops will help if it's bacterial. No harm in getting them. Viral will go away by itself.

You probably have eye herpes, fortunately for you they make eye drops for it called trifluridine.
I'm in the pharmaceutical eye drop industry.
If bacterial, use a product with moxifloxacin or tobramycin.

I'll tell you something...
The only time I ever missed school in my adolescent years was from pink eye. Sucked. I would have had perfect attendance through middle school had I not had it a couple of times.
I did get perfect attendance in Jr High and in High School. Including senior year.

it will go away on its own. however, be prepared for it to jump to the other eye if you don't get meds.

Bring yo arse to the Minute Clinic(CVS) or an after hours care place and get the drops. Also ask if theres anything they'll give you for itching/sleeping at night. Lidocaine eyedrops are amazing for scratched eyeballs and pink eye.

Somebody you know with a kid has some Vigamox drops, use them for 2 days and you will be good.
