Had a similar discussion with some friends a few months back. We met Shawn Jordan (ex LSU fullback, current UFC fighter) on a bowfishing trip. Debated whether us four could take him.
I said no. If he knocked out our biggest guy quickly, it would be all downhill from there.

you didn't realize it was Monson at the time?
that's a pretty hilarious story. At least he was kind enough to not fight back.
It was an issue of grabbing the guy who was 250 and 4 inches shorter than me, or the guy who had 8 inches in height and 100lbs or so on me. Given that I had recently seen him carrying an outboard that weighed more than I did using one hand, I chose the "little" guy.
When I say he could have killed me, I was 100% sure I was gonna get punched. Thankfully he went from turned up to fairly relaxed when his feet left the ground.
When we talked the next day, we were joking about all of it the night before. He was 100% sure he would have won the fight. I didn't have the heart (or balls) to tell him that big bastard would have likely killed him. Literally.

Referring to the Tito & Chuck Liddell vs "Lightning" Lee Murray and his boys in a London pub? Eyewitness accounts say Tito was knocked out while Liddell stood against a wall and dropped everyone who came at him. Murray was no joke, he would have been a UFC champion if he didn't turn into a criminal.

but based on everything I know about us both, in a bar fight without rules, I'd give myself the edge.
What would you say gives you the edge over arguably the best fighter of all time? Please tell me it's "because you're bigger"

Shawn Jordan
Shawn has potential to be a real dominant champion. Dustin as well.
I have to say I would be a bit more scared of dustin in a bar fight. Shawn is a nice guy, Dustin is fricking nuts.

Shawn was super nice. But I can't imagine getting punched with those brick hands.
I've never met Dustin.

In a bar fight, the knowledge that the longer you delay contact the more likely you are to win. If you're smart, you throw beer bottles, liqour in the face, stools at the knees...anything you can to stop contact for as long as you can. Delay contact.
After that, you fight to your strengths. If you're a bigger guy, you want to be near the bar. If you slam someone's back into the edge of the bar, they aren't throwing bombs.
Also, fists are idiotic.

He's 5'11 170 lbs for those wondering.
To answer the question I have no idea, have a lot of size and strength on him but he's use to getting punched and I am certainly not.
Edited for words

ETA: It's like saying Forrest Griffin weighs 205. He was notorious for cutting a shitload of weight for weigh-ins and walking into the cage around 240. GSP had the same reputation. MMA fighters are only at their listed weights for a couple of hours.

It does. There is a reason they cut weight before a fight. If he needs to be at 169.9 for a weigh in, he could potentially weigh 180 or more 24 hours later for the fight. One reason Conor was outmatched last fight, IMO. He had to gain for the weigh in while Nate had to cut. I bet there was a 20-25 pound difference, if not more, the night of that fight.

in a cage, I'd want no part of him. Actually in a bar I'd avoid it too if I could. But yes I am a lot bigger, on top of having a martial arts background. Also much much stronger than him. If I could close the distance, get inside his reach, in a bar room, I believe I could manage. You obviously don't understand martial arts/fighting/combat sports outside of what you watch at home with your Keystone Light can pyramid.

How big a chap are you?
Posted on 7/7/16 at 4:12 pm to StrongBackWeakMind
Plenty big enough that I don't walk around worried about the boogieman
dont take what I'm saying to mean I want GSP to meet me at Sonic bc I damn sure don't. I'm just saying I think I'd be ok.

I'm putting my money on Shawn. I weigh 215lbs and he can throw me like a backpack. He's ridiculously strong.
