I find this Uptown Deb stuff ridiculous. The real old money thinks it's trashy as hell. There were plenty of former Rex's and Comus's at that party, just as there were at the Maroon 5/lobster tree one. I will say that neither of those families are super old money, but they aren't social outcasts either.

Word On the street is that one, if not both of the parties were in response to the deb not getting selected as this year's queen of Rex, as sortof a middle finger /attempt to capture headlines. Further explained by the newer money background.

More impressive than the lobster tree is they got Nick Saban to serve the food.

The deb's younger sister played on a softball team I helped coach; she is crazy tall now! I knew they were well to do, but that is quite a party, indeed. Very nice folks from what I could tell.

Meanwhile, other uptowners of the same social group are keeping their names out of the paper and spending their money on sending their kids to Princeton and Columbia.

Never seen a bigger shite eating grin than the one on the Dad.

Looks like a fun party.

It was actually not even the most expensive deb party this season, there were two that cost $5 Million, at least.

That's so fcking awesome.

I remember reading in the social scene part of the paper last year about one of the old metairie "pretend" rich folks having a big bash for their daughter's 18th party. I was thinking, man they must have spent at least $250K and I thought that was just stupid money.

Yeah he is. The majority are still going to Ole Miss and Bama, while turning their noses up at people going to LSU.
