Hey guys, moving in with my uncle for the summer in Orange Beaxh.

I'll be leaving tomorrow and I have no idea where I should work. I've thought about working at a marina, maybe gasing up/cleaning boats? I'm from North MS, so I honestly have no idea what kind of jobs you can find down there.

My question is: what is a good summer job to have in Orange Beach?

My uncle thinks I should be a waiter because of the possibility of making a good bit of money

I don't mind working hard, and would prefer to be outside.

i know some guys that moved there for a summer back in college, and they were the guys that set up the umbrellas and chairs in front of the condos.

Waiter is probably your best bet.

You could try to be one of the ones that picks up and puts out the beach chairs but every young guy seems to want to do that.

Might be able to get a job at the Wharf helping with boats or San Roc Cay, but doubtful.

Not a lot of jobs in Orange Beach. Even to support the locals a lot of the time.

You should volunteer to pick cigarette butts up off the beach all summer

Maybe hard to get a waiter job down there. Summer time waiters probably make BANK and the locals probably have that on lock. Any summer time work in the service industry is probably going to be hard to get in, imo.

Meth dealer sounds like your best bet.

I lived there for a summer. Walk in to any restaurant and get a job as waiter or cook. They all need the help. That's what I did.

Or you could be one of those umbrella kids.

Marina, especially if you like fishing. You'll get tips and make decent connections if you have a personality

Try OB Marina, Zeke's, and The Warf

Haha I am not. I wish, doesn't get much better then Lamberts..

Uncle was telling me every where you go has signs asking for help. Since it's still early in the summer I'm hoping I'll beat a lot of the people going down there

Service jobs are a dime a dozen in the summer. I got a job in the first restaurant I walked in to.

I stand corrected. Would have thought locals would have had the good ones taken up.

The locals have the good ones locked up for sure, but that doesn't mean there aren't 100 other mediocre jobs. If your only goal is to make rent (which OP might not have to do) and buy beer and drugs, any waiting job will do.

I did it the summer of 2004 with two other friends. Had the summer of my life. Waited tables 4-5 days a week, fished at night, and sat on the beach on my days off.
